This multi-award-winning restaurant’s philosophy and charm is encapsulated perfectly by its name; Thai Sabai literally means ‘a place to relax’, and here in the heart of Headingley, close to the stadium, you can unwind with mouth- watering authentic Thai cuisine, served by friendly and attentive staff in a wonderfully relaxing ambience. The modest exterior defies the delights that lie within. The soft lighting and intimate atmosphere of Thai Sabai make it ideal for a romantic meal for two, a celebration with family, or a catch up with friends over a bottle of wine – the tropical flavours of the Chilean Cono Sur Viognier complement the food here perfectly. ‘…awarded ‘Best Oriental Restaurant 2010’ at the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards…’ The extensive à la carte menu is reasonably priced and features over 80 exciting dishes including two full pages of vegetarian options. There are also vegan, gluten-free and other specially adapted dishes to suit dietary requirements, and Halal meat is always available. There is an excellent choice of starters, soups and salads followed by an impressive array of curries, noodle dishes, sizzling stir fries and unmissable recommended options such as whole sea bass steamed with lemon and chilli sauce, or the ‘gang ped phed yang’ – roast duck cooked with red curry paste, coconut milk, tomato, pineapple and grapes. A tempting list of desserts include a large selection of delicious homemade ice creams created with the naughtiest of yummy ingredients. The early-bird menu offers excellent value for money at £9.95 for two courses and a drink or £12.20 for three courses (available everyday until 7pm). View the website for further offers.
